Coca Cola, Pepsi e Danone estão acabando com toda a água do México

A Coca Cola, a Pepsi e a Danone estão secando o México. As empresas multinacionais, na verdade, desfrutam de concessões especiais para a exploração dos aquíferos, mas estas não são adequadamente controladas, as empresas pagam taxas insignificantes, embora detenham 82% do mercado em termos de vendas totais. Um desastre não somente ambiental, mas também humano.

Esta é a denúncia de Léo Heller, Relator Especial da Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU) sobre o Direito Humano à Água Potável e ao Saneamento, que apresentou um relatório ao qual colaborou 101 organizações humanitárias.

Como relata a mídia local, o relatório apresentado por Heller pinta uma situação muito grave e que ainda pode piorar, uma situação que está empobrecendo o México e seus recursos hídricos.

Para citar apenas um exemplo, a Coca Cola paga 2.600 pesos para cada uma das 46 concessões para a retirada das águas subterrâneas por ano (num total, portanto, que não chega a 120 mil pesos), mas só em 2007 conseguiu lucrar 32 bilhões e 500 milhões de pesos. Mesmo sem saber a taxa de câmbio e o poder de compra, a comparação é bastante preocupante.

Heller explicou que em 2014 a indústria da mineração usou 437 milhões de metros cúbicos de água, o suficiente para atender as necessidades no mesmo período de toda a população dos estados mexicanos da Baja Califórnia, Colima, Campeche e Nayarit. Um uso sem precedentes e que atropela todos os direitos humanos à água potável.

E esta é apenas uma ponta de um iceberg triste e muito perigoso: as empresas de mineração gozam de privilégios fiscais incomparáveis, ​​que lhes dão a oportunidade de disponibilizar os recursos naturais da nação para o benefício de poucos.

As reformas recentes conferiram ao setor de minas e energia características utilitárias, tornando a exploração e a extração de recursos como sendo relevantes para a nação e a ordem pública, dando mais prioridades a estas atividades do que a quaisquer outras.
